When I started to nurture Vivian's story in my head I knew I wanted her to be a dragon shifter. When I started to research how other authors portrayed dragon shifters, none of their versions resonated with me. So I created the Drakon. As I was putting it together, the idea of the Drakon race became more complicated and interesting. I was all too eager to see the finished product. I can't put everything into this single post but promise to share more information including but not limited to their powers, elements, history, and social structure in future posts.

What is a Drakon?
The Drakons is a race of semi-human, semi-magical humanoids that resemble Dragons. Little is known of their origin and if they actually come from Dragons but since their features tend to contort to become Dragon like when lost to their instincts it is the most likely theory.
Nature
No one has ever tested how long a Drakon can actually live for but the oldest Drakon in recent history lived to be 120 years old.
Drakons like dragons
While Drakons don't mate for life, once they mate only the death of the mate can release them from their mating bond. In a family unit, there is a single submissive with anywhere between one to multiple dominants. The number of dominants a submissive mates with isn't equivalent to how powerful a submissive is but how many mates the submissive needs to become pregnant. The Drakon race are polygamous.
Dominant vs Submissive
Drakons are divided between two categories, submissive and dominants. submissives are the Drakons who are able to carry children, or clutches, while the dominants are the Drakons who can impregnate the submissives. However, dominants aren't all male and submissives aren't all female.
Each dominant is attuned to one of the following elements in the order of common to least common: earth, fire, water, air, and electricity. They can call upon the element and convince it to work for them much like a witch would call upon natural magic. You can tell what the element each dominant is affiliated with by the color of their scales.
Some, not all, submissives can develop

Appearance
A Drakon is hard to spot on sight because they can hide their scales and wings underneath their skin. However, if you get the opportunity of seeing their features on display it is a sight to remember. They
Submissives usually have white, pearl, or iridescent scales while dominants' are the color of their element.

Government
They are run by an oligarchy government known as The Council. Each official is brought into power by a nomination of a previous council member when that council member is ready for retirement.
